Physiotherapy

 

The physiotherapy service provides assessment and management for children from birth to 16/18 years with musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. However the service is primarily an infant service with referral to other  local services where required for short episodic management.

Support is provided for positional and structural issues such as talipes, plagiocephaly, torticollis, Erb’s  Palsy and hip assessments.

Assessment and education is given with neurological and developmental issues, including developmental delay, toe  walking, clumsy gait.

Splinting and casting is provided for the patients defined above when indicated.

Service delivery is Tuesday weekly. Patients maybe referred to John Hunter Children's Hospital when the waiting time would impact on clinical  progression or assessment for consultant interaction and care.

  • Positional Talipes
  • Post surgical feet
  • Erb’s Palsy
  • Torticollis
  • Plagiocephaly
  • Metatarsus  adductus
  • DDH - toe walking
  • Clumsiness
  • Abnormal gait pattern
  • Chronic genetic conditions for early assessment
  • Delayed Motor Skills
