Belmont Hospital

 

Belmont Hospital does not provide any specific inpatient paediatric services. 

Children who require admission to hospital will be transferred to John Hunter Children's Hospital.

Belmont Hospital forms part of the Greater Newcastle Sector.  Other hospitals in the sector are the John Hunter Hospital, John Hunter Children's Hospital and the Royal Newcastle Centre. Belmont Hospital is approximately 20 minutes south of John Hunter Hospital.  It provides services to the East Lake Macquarie area. 

Belmont Hospital provides a range of health care services, including general medicine, general surgery, day surgery, coronary care, gynaecology and emergency services.  Allied health services are also provided, including referral to other services on the Belmont Health Service campus. Co-located with the health service are the Short Term Resident Accommodation Service, Belmont Birthing Service, Children and Young People Community Health Services and Lakeview Detoxification Unit. 


Paediatric Services 

Although Belmont Hospital does not provide any specialty paediatric services, John Hunter Children's Hospital holds general paediatric clinics five days per week on Belmont Campus. To attend one of these clinics, patients must have a referral from their general practitioner.

In addition to the general paediatric clinics, Child and Family Health Nursing also provides a service at Belmont Campus. The Child and Family Health Nursing Service operates Monday - Friday from 8.30am - 5pm. Appointment times are held between 9.30am - 4pm. Referrals are not required.
