Tamworth Child Development Service
The Child Development Service (CDS) is a trans-disciplinary Allied Health Team that includes:
- Speech Pathologist
- Physiotherapist
- Occupational Therapist
- Child & Family Health Nurse
- Psychologist and
- Social Worker
This service provides face-to-face specialised joint assessment and review services with the team and individualised therapy services where needed. If necessary, suggestions are made for activities to do at home with your child to help his or her development.
Child Development Service staff will liaise with other professionals involved in the care of your child to provide a coordinated service and to meet parent’s goals.

Tamworth Greater City Area
Referral Eligibility Criteria
Children who reside within the Tamworth Greater City area and are up to 3 years old who were born prematurely or who are at risk of delay or have a mild to moderate developmental delay in more than one are, including children who are experience learning difficulties.
Referral Exclusion Criteria
- Premature infants 34 weeks or greater gestation without and other co morbidity
- Children eligible for Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) services
- Children eligible for Aging Disability and Home care (ADHC) services
- Children who only need to access one allied health discipline
Who do we accept referrals from?
Anyone can refer including parents. Parental consent is necessary for a referral to be accepted. Paper or electronic referral is preferred.
