There are a number of services in Hunter New England that can support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. Below are links to a wide range of health and community services available.
Hunter New England Aboriginal Health
On the Hunter New England Aboriginal Health webpage you will find information about Aboriginal Hospital Liaison Officers (AHLOs) working near you (including a contact list), a list of what to bring to hospital, and a link to the Aboriginal Health Unit (where you can find more information about community run programs in Hunter New England).
HNE Social and Emotional Wellbeing Community Services Directory
This document provides lots of options and contact information for a range of services that are available in the Hunter New England area. The document is broken up into sections to help you find what you need easily. The sections include accommodation, addiction, carers support, community and culture, education, emergency relief, employment, families, health, justice and legal, older persons support and transport.
NSW Health Aboriginal Services
The NSW Health Aboriginal Services webpage provides information about Aboriginal Maternal and Infant Health Services (AMIHS) and Building Strong Foundations (BSF) - two culturally safe services that are available for pregnant women, babies and children in NSW.
