Orthopaedics

John Hunter Children's Hospital Orthopaedic Service delivers a primary and specialist care service to children and young people within the Hunter New England Local Health District. Orthopaedics services provide a 24 hour, acute, tertiary level service for injuries and conditions affecting bones, muscles and joints.

The Department has a multidisciplinary team, consisting of Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeons', Paediatric Orthopaedic Registrars, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and a Clinical Nurse Consultant.

Orthopaedic Clinics

Paediatric Orthopaedic Clinics are provided by Associate Professor Eric Ho and Dr Sandeep Tewari, along with a Clinical Nurse Consultant.

Paediatric Orthopaedic services treat children from from 0-18 years of age and those who live in the Hunter New England Local Health District area and Northern NSW.

The Paediatric Orthopaedic Service treats children with musculoskeletal disorders and injuries, which include:

There are a range of specialty clinics for:

No appointment can be made without a referral. Appointments will be allocated after assessment by an Orthopaedic Specialist.

For trauma and non-elective related orthopaedic follow-up appointments for patients disharged from John Hunter Children's Hospital who are not Professor Ho or Dr Trewari patients.

The Paediatric Orthopaedic Registrar conducts a paediatric fracture clinic on Tuesday afternoons.
