Specialist Services

John Hunter Children's Hospital is one of three children's hospitals in NSW, it is a teritiary referral hospital - a teaching hospital. As a highly specialised facility, the Children's Hospital provides treatment to children and young people that have been seriously injured, have a chronic illness, require specialised medical care for many different illnesses or need palliative care.

All specialists at the children's hospital are trained in paediatrics, with many clinicians having worked at other children's hospitals around Australia and others worked at children's hospitals' around the world. Many of the Children's Hospital specialists also engage in research projects to improve the health outcomes of children and young people.
