Trauma Informed Practices
Date: Friday 10 November, 2017
Venue: University of Newcastle
The annual Hunter New England Local Health District Psychology Conference will be held on 10 November 2016. This year’s theme explores the area of 'Trauma Informed Practices'.
Across various teams, workplaces and settings Psychologists are often finding themselves working with people who have experienced trauma. What does this look like in your practice? How do you respond? How does it interplay with other factors? What intervention do you provide? What modality/s inform your practice with people who have experienced trauma.
The range of factors relevant to each client is broad and includes: personal history; social, cultural and spiritual aspects; genetic and biological factors; and personality and psychological tendencies. Ongoing advances in knowledge and understanding – from emotional and cognitive aspects to neuroscience and social understandings – are leading towards greater integration and unified models – as we continue to encounter inevitable complexity and diversity in our work.
This year's keynote speakers are Mirjana Askovic, STARRTS and David Newman, Dulwich Centre.
