These clinics and services include immunisation, young parent's network, education programs for child and family health, child hearing and vision assessments, speech therapy, psychology and social work. Our community team also provides care in the home e.g. wound care and post surgical care.
When do we refer to another facility?
Non-urgent paediatric referrals to The Maitland Hospital and or John Hunter Hospital usually occur when the Local Medical Officers require a more specialised opinion. Our close relationship with these facilities enables us, with the support of the Patient Flow Unit to make these referrals efficient and beneficial for our paediatric patients.
For urgent paediatric referrals we are supported by the Patient Flow Unit, The Maitland Hospital, John Hunter Children's Hospital and if necessary the Neonatal Emergency Transport Service or the Retrieval Team from John Hunter Children's Hospital.
