Armidale Childhood Health Clinic

Early childhood health clinics are staffed by registered nurses who are also trained in the specialty of child and family health.

Child and Family Health Nurses work in partnership with families - using the Personal Health Record (PHR). The PHR is known as the ‘blue book’.

You can help and information on:

  • breastfeeding
  • sleeping and crying concerns
  • Immunisations
  • safety
  • baby and toddler growth and development.
  • when to start family foods

Parents of all new babies in NSW are eligible for a home visit.

At your home visit the nurse will:

  • give your baby a health and developmental check
  • talk about how you are coping with feeding , sleep etc
  • discuss any concerns you may have
  • assist with any difficulties
  • Provide further information and links to any additional family and parenting support you may require.

After the 1st home visit appointments are usually at the clinic. We encourage partners to come to the checks.

First time mothers are invited to the New Mother’s Group in Armidale.  This group runs for 5 weeks with a different topic each week. It is also an opportunity to meet with other new mothers.
